Rise & Honey

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 1, 2026

These are draft terms for our waitlist. We'll formalize them — with proper legal review — before Rise & Honey opens as a live product.

1. What we collect — waitlist

When you join the Rise & Honey waitlist, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • The timestamp of when you signed up

That's it. We don't ask for your name, phone number, location, or anything else at this stage.

1b. What we collect — when you become a user

When you start receiving daily voice messages, we additionally collect and store:

  • Your phone number (to send WhatsApp voice messages)
  • The alias / pet name you choose to be called
  • The safe word you set during onboarding
  • The text and timestamp of every reply you send back to the character (verbatim)
  • Extracted memories. So the character can feel like he remembers you, our system reads your replies and extracts durable facts about your life (e.g. "has a sister getting married in July", "has a husky called Freyja"). These are stored in your account so future messages can reference them. You can see exactly what we've stored and ask us to wipe it at any time — see Section 4.
  • Generated voice notes (audio files) and the prompts used to generate them, kept so we can debug delivery issues and improve quality.

1c. What we deliberately do NOT extract

The memory extractor is instructed to never store:

  • Medical conditions or diagnoses
  • Legal issues or arrests
  • Financial information (income, debts, account details)
  • Sexual preferences or behaviour
  • Information about minors (children's names, schools, etc.)
  • Identifying information about third parties without their consent

If you ever spot a stored memory that falls into one of these buckets, email us and we'll remove it immediately.

2. Why we collect it

We use your email address for exactly one purpose during the waitlist: to tell you when Rise & Honey is ready, and to share the occasional update about the product's progress.

The user data in Section 1b exists for one reason: to deliver the product you signed up for — a daily voice message that feels like it's from someone who knows you. Phone numbers and replies are not used for anything else. Extracted memories are visible only to our admin team and the AI that composes your messages.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any of this data. We do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Where it's stored — and who processes it

All your data is stored in our Supabase database (hosted in the EU). For the product itself, additional processors are involved on a per-request basis:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — composes the daily messages and extracts memories from your replies. Anthropic processes prompt content transiently and does not train on API traffic by default.
  • Cartesia — converts the composed text to a voice note. Receives only the message text; no other context.
  • Meta (WhatsApp Business API)— delivers the voice note to your phone and receives your replies. Subject to WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
  • Resend — sends transactional and update emails to waitlist signups.
  • Vercel — hosts our backend code and logs request metadata for debugging (kept ≤ 30 days).
  • Google Analytics 4 — used on riseandhoney.com and /start only, and only when you click Accept on the cookie banner. Tracks aggregated page views and a small set of product events (waitlist signup, character / voice picks, completion of the WhatsApp handoff). Data is processed by Google in the US under their standard contractual clauses; we never use it for advertising. If you decline the banner, no Google Analytics cookie is set and no data is sent to Google.

3b. Cookies set by us

We set a single first-party preference cookie (rh-analytics-consent, stored in your browser’s localStorage) so we remember whether you accepted or declined the analytics cookie. That preference stays on your device — we never see it.

When you click Accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_<id>) to recognise return visits in aggregate. You can clear them at any time via your browser’s site-data settings, or decline the banner to prevent them from ever being set.

4. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you what data we hold about you
  • Correct it if it's wrong
  • Wipe your memories— delete every extracted fact while keeping your account active. Useful if you want the character to "forget" specific things or start fresh.
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Remove you from the waitlist (if you haven't become a user)

Email hello@riseandhoney.com and we'll action the request within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority.

5. Cookies and tracking

See Section 3b for the full list of cookies. In short: one first-party preference cookie remembers your analytics choice, and Google Analytics cookies only get set if you click Accepton the banner. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

6. Data retention

Waitlist:we keep your email until the product launches, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. If we decide not to launch, we'll delete the waitlist and let you know.

Active users: we keep your account data — including replies, voice notes, and extracted memories — for as long as your account is active. When you cancel or delete your account, all of your facts and memories are wiped within 30 days. Voice notes (audio files) and prompts may be retained for up to 90 days afterward in encrypted backups for debugging, then permanently deleted.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll email everyone on the waitlist before the changes take effect.
